Chapters: New Chapter Creation
Dear NPA enthusiast,
As you receive this communication NPA recognizes you have an interest
in forming or revitalizing an NPA Chapter in your area. The most
frequent request is, "How do I get started?" Herein is
information to assist you. The leaders in NPA hope that you will
find the involvement in Chapter Leadership rewarding and a bright
star in your career accomplishments.
First, we would like you to become very familiar with the NPA and
the task at hand. To know the Network Professional Association you
need to be a member, so that you have access to the member only
resources. This may be your first leap of faith, register your membership
or renew now. (Access issues contact NPA
for help)
To set up or revitalize a chapter there must be a leadership group
in the chapter composed of 5 NPA members in good standing. There
is a fair amount of planning, communication, forms and finally
authorization to process. The NPA publishes the NPA CHAPTER HANDBOOK
and the accompanying
NPA MEMBER HANDBOOK. Both of these items are available on the document
link of www.npa.org member
page and the NPA Chapters page.
The "NPA Code
of Ethics" is a centerpiece of NPA. Recognize
how it complements your efforts in setting up a chapter. When your
chapter is authorized by the Executive Director, the president of
your chapter will be granted access to the administrative module
of npa.org where you will find chapter management tools like email
and database downloads.
Don't be overwhelmed. Take everything in programmed, organized
steps. Have a planning group to help set reasonable goals. Use the
table of contents in the manuals to find just the sections you need
for now. We are all volunteers. Program your volunteer effort, don't
burn out.
Finally, solicit support from local individuals, companies and
vendors. Everyone benefits from being associated with an educated
professional group. And, visit the NPA web site frequently. It is
the information hub for the NPA.
All news and benefits are posted there.
