New NPA Executive Director Promises Growth and New Directions
for Association
Doug Cooper, a technology marketing veteran and entrepreneur has
been named the new Executive Director of the Network Professional Association (NPA).
Cooper began working with the NPA earlier this year, helping to
create and launch the NPA Awards for Professionalism program. He
has a broad range of successful executive management and entrepreneurial
experience in the high technology field, for 11 years as co-founder
and president of Cooper/Iverson Marketing, a high tech public relations
firm; and as co-founder of Contigo Software, a pioneer in the web
conferencing field that was acquired by Raindance Communications.
He believes the NPA has tremendous potential to affect real, positive
growth in the networking industry. "In the next few months,
you're going to see a completely new and improved NPA, that will
become the definitive source for professional and personal growth
of the networking professional," he said. "The NPA will
provide guidance, resources and mentoring for individuals at all
stages of their educational and career development, plus lots of
new member benefits with real tangible value."
Cooper plans to help re-energize the NPA by leveraging the resources
of vendor, education and media partners who have a vested interest
in supporting the success of the network professional. "We
will provide a forum for partners that understand how important
our members are to growth and innovation in the industry,"
he said. "Over the next few months we'll be rolling out a new
website, working to build new chapters in the U.S. and internationally,
and planning a steady stream of events and opportunities to raise
the level of peer-to-peer networking, dialogue and community in
the global marketplace."
Cooper wants to hear any and all ideas for how the NPA can become
more relevant for its membership, the networking industry in general
and its sponsor/partners. He can be reached at dcooper@npa.org.
