Anthony Wong: Technology Lawyer; Thought Leader; Vice President International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP); Deputy Chair IFIP IP3

This week, Stephen Ibaraki has an exclusive interview with Anthony Wong.

Anthony WongAnthony is a Technology lawyer and advisor to government and corporate clients in Australia and internationally. He is a key industry thought leader, regular commentator and speaker at various national and international forums including on SkyNews, ABC, the UN Internet Governance Forum (IGF), World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) and the World Computer Congress.

Anthony has double degrees in Computer Science and Law from Monash University, Master of Laws in Media, Communications and IT from UNSW and a Master of Intellectual Property from UTS, Australia.

He has also held senior management positions in multinational corporations and government. His multi-disciplinary career traversed legal practice, multinationals in the IT Industry, including as CIO of the Australian Tourist Commission during the Sydney 2000 Olympics, led the digital transformation of Thomson in the Asia Pacific, and with the multinational Philips (Dutch) in their IT division.

He has served on the Australian Government IT Industry Innovation Council, President and Chair of the Board of the Australian Computer Society (ACS); Chair of the NSW Government ICT Advisory Panel and as a Member of the NSW Government Digital Transformation Taskforce.

Anthony is the Managing Director of AGW Lawyers & Consultants, a multidisciplinary legal and advisory practice advising in many areas of law and technology, and on the emergent and disruptive risks and issues arising from 4.0 Industrial technologies including on Artificial Intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), Big Data, Virtual and Augmented Reality.

He is a Member of the International Assoc of Privacy Professionals, the Law Society of New South Wales, International Technology Law Association, the founding President of the NZ Society for Computers and the Law, an Honorary Life Member and Fellow of the Australian Computer Society (ACS).

He is the Vice President of the International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP) established by UNESCO in 1960 and Deputy Chair of IFIP IP3.
